Ryan Reynolds is Done with Superheroes After 'Deadpool'
While it's great that Hugh Jackman has stuck it out as Wolverine for the last fifteen years, let's give special credit to Ryan Reynolds, as well. He's played more superheroes than anybody, and for different companies. He was Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity, Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, and of course Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the upcoming solo film starring the Merc with a Mouth. And let's not forget the terrible comic book adaptation, RIPD. But he's just about had enough, and he tells HuffPo that Deadpool is the last superhero he'll ever play.
"I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this. Hopefully we'll get to do 'Deadpool' again. Given the fact that it's rated R, the fans have to show their support for it, and they have to come out and make it worthwhile for the studio to make another one, but that's it for me. I've punched that superhero card a few times now, and that's enough."
As he said, the hope is for more Deadpool movies, and who knows? Maybe the character will crossover into the proper X-Men flicks? Just don't count on seeing Reynolds as Green Lantern again any time soon, not that anybody is asking for more of that.
Deadpool opens February 12th 2016.
