From 'The Shield to the GCPD: Michael Chiklis Joins 'Gotham' Cast
Let's talk perfect casting for the Fox series, Gotham. TV Line has revealed that Michael Chiklis joining the cop drama set in the Batman universe. Why is this perfect? Because Chiklis spent years as easily-corruptible cop Vic Mackey on FX's The Shield, a character who would fit in nicely with the dishonest cops of Gotham City. Plus, Chiklis has plenty of superhero experience having played the Thing in two Fantastic Four movies. What else does one need?
Chiklis will take the role of GCPD Captain Nathaniel Banes, and here's how show producers describe him:
“[Barnes] lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon, Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.”
Chiklis joins Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz, Camren Bicondova, Nick D'Agosto, Chris Chalk, Morena Baccarin, Cory Michael Smith, Victoria Cartagena, Andrew Stewart Jones, and John Doman. Gotham returns to Fox on September 21st.
