'Kong: Skull Island' Loses Stars Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons

There's some terribly bad news in this latest update on Legendary's Kong: Skull Island, mixed with a little bit of good news. First the bad: the film has lost two of its biggest stars, Michael Keaton and JK Simmons, according to a report from Deadline. So what's the good news? They're leaving over scheduling conflicts, not because they thought the creative direction was all jacked up.

Still on board to star is Tom Hiddleston, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) making his leap to blockbusters. For Keaton and Simmons, the problems began when the production got bumped from its fall start date to later in the year. Penned by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, the film will have no connection to Peter Jackson's King Kong film, and will be a reboot/origin taking us to "the mysterious and dangerous home of the iconic ape as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.”

Despite the delays, Kong: Skull Island is expected to open on March 10th 2017.
