Michael Fassbender is a Genius in the Full 'Steve Jobs' Trailer

For a film that has long been envisioned as a potential Oscar contender, Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs drama has had a plagued path to production. David Fincher was set to helm the biopic, reuniting with his The Social Network screenwriter, but the whole thing took a nasty turn while at Sony, and most of it was aired quite publicly due to the email scandal. Fortunately, Universal swept in to take over, seeing the obvious promise in the film, especially with Michael Fassbender as the visionary Apple founder.

After a brief teaser some weeks ago, a full trailer for Steve Jobs has been released and it looks every bit like the prestige picture many envisioned it would be. Co-starring Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as Joanna Huffman, plus Jeff Daniels, Katherine Waterston, Michael Stuhlbarg, John Ortiz, and Sara Snook, the film's structure is as unique as many of Jobs' wild ideas. Walter Isaacson's book serves as the basis for a story split into three chapters centered on a key product launch, ending with 1998's iMac. This trailer focuses on the many contradictions within Jobs, but the highlight is this exchange between him and Wozniak:

Wozniak: “What do you do? You’re not an engineer. You’re not a designer. You can’t put a hammer to a nail. I built the circuit board. The graphical interface was stolen. So how come, 10 times in a day, I read Steve Jobs is a genius. What do you do?”

Jobs: “Musicians play their instruments. I play the orchestra.”

Steve Jobs hits theaters on October 9th.
