Scott Derrickson's Sinister was one of 2013's low-budget success stories, one of many the horror genre has produced in recent years. But now two years later, Derrickson has moved on to Marvel's Doctor Strange, only taking on a co-writing and producing credit, while a new cast is all ready to get freaked out by the demon Bughuul in Sinister 2.
Ciaran Foy takes over as director while James Ransone and Shannyn Sossamon star in the film about a different family's paranormal encounters. Here's the synopsis:
"The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity."
Sinister 2 opens August 21st.
