You may be asking yourself, "Where was The Crossing 1"? The first half of John Woo's period epic, billed affectionately as the "Chinese Titanic", hasn't been released here, but it opened late last year in China. And so now with the second chapter opening there in just a few weeks, a new trailer shows once again that Woo is one of the best when it comes to large-scale productions.
Centered around the 1949 sinking of the Taiping, leading to the death of over 1500 passengers, the film revolves around the intertwining stories of three couples trying to flee the Chinese Civil War. Zhang Ziyi, Huang Xiamoing and Song Hye-kyo star in the film which looks every bit as sweeping as Woo's award-winning Red Cliff.
The Crossing 2 opens in China on July 31st, and hopefully will arrive here at some point.
