Danny Boyle Wants 'Trainspotting 2' To Be His Next Film
A Trainspotting sequel has been talked about for years, mostly by director Danny Boyle, but movement on it has always been interrupted by his other projects. However he's always remained confident it will happen, saying a couple of years ago his aim for a 2016 start date. And it seems those projections may have been on point because Boyle is talking up Trainspotting 2 as his next film.
Boyle is currently basking in the strong early reviews for Steve Jobs, which just premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. It was there that Deadline caught up with him and got the info from Boyle himself, who adds that the biggest complication has been working out the schedules with the main cast who are all eager to return...
"All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series."
The actors he's referring to are Ewan McGregor, Elementary's Jonny Lee Miller, Once Upon a Time's Robert Carlyle, and Ewen Bremner. Assuming everything gets worked out as Boyle hopes, he'll be directing based on a screenplay by frequent collaborator John Hodge. The story will be adapted from Irvine Welsh's book, Porno, the author's sequel to Trainspotting that picks up 10 years later.
