Daniel Craig Would Rather Slash His Wrists Than Play Bond Again

With Spectre right around the corner Daniel Craig has had to endure a number of questions about his future as James Bond. His responses for the most part have been a bit flaky; he just doesn't seem to know what to do. What's obvious is that he doesn't totally enjoy the physically demanding productions, and will need to take some time to recover before considering another one. It's a point he hammers home once again to Time Out London, only in much saltier language than before. Here's his response to being asked about playing Bond once more.

"Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on....I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money."

Doubtful the studios would be willing to give Craig a year or two to make up his mind. The need for a franchise of this scope to keep moving at an accelerated pace demand a quick turnaround. To that point, Craig also confirms those early rumors about two Bond movie being shot back-to back. Take a guess how he felt about that idea...

"I was contracted to do another one. That was all set up. But at the studio, there was a real keenness to get it done as soon as possible. In fact, there was a conversation at one point that went: 'Let’s film two movies back to back.' I just went: 'You’re out of your fucking minds.' In the nicest possible way. They’re just too big."

So maybe Craig will don the tuxedo once again, maybe not. His advice for anyone replacing him is simply "Don't be shit."

Spectre hits theaters on November 6th.
