As far as directorial debuts go, they don't get more successful than Elizabeth Banks' Pitch Perfect 2. The sequel to the hit a capella comedy tuned up $283M at the box office, more than double what the first film did. Not surprisingly, it wasn't long before word started to break about a third film, one that would see Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, and Brittany Snow returning. And now THR is reporting that Banks will be joining them.
Not much is known about what kind of misadventure screenwriter Kay Cannon will come up with for the Bellas this time. They've already conquered their university, won the world championships, and introduced a new class of Bellas, although there doesn't seem to be any hint of Hailee Steinfeld returning.
Pitch Perfect 3 is set to open on August 4th 2017.
