Fox Developing a 'Think Like A Man' TV Series
At this point it's probably a good idea to assume every modestly successful film will become a TV series at some point. Why? Because we're in a golden age of television, people! The next movie getting the small-screen treatment is Think Like A Man, the "battle of the sexes" comedy which was a $90M+ hit in 2012.
According to Deadline, Fox is developing a single-camera comedy series that will be based on the best-selling books by Steve Harvey which served as the films' inspiration. Harvey and Will Packer are on board as producers, while Tim Story, who directed the movie and its less-successful sequel Think Like A Man Too, may helm the pilot. Keith Merryman and David A. Newman, writers of both movies, will pen the series which will explore the male and female points of view on the difficulty of staying in love.
The movies took a ton of underutilized talent such as Michael Ealy, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, and Kevin Hart, and gave them a chance in the spotlight, an opportunity they ran with. There's a good chance Fox sees the ratings bonanza of Empire and figures a Think Like A Man series would appeal to much the same demographic. They may be right on that, but Fox isn't having the best time with their film-to-series adaptations lately. Minority Report, which happens to star Good, is off to a poor start in its first season. This would be one way to keep the franchise going without having to invest in a third movie that might tank.
