Rihanna Blasts Off for Luc Besson's Sci-Fi Adventure, 'Valerian'

Rihanna's film credits may be few, but everything she's been a part of has been pretty big. Battleship, Annie, Home, and the apocalyptic comedy This Is the End have all had the R&B star as part of their line-up, and now Luc Besson wants her for his anticipated sci-fi film, Valerian.

Already starring Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and Clive Owen (Children of Men), Rihanna will take an unspecified "big part" in the futuristic tale set in the 28th century. The story follows temporal agent Valerian, who has grand adventures across space and time with an 11th-century peasant girl.

Besson, who is adapting Valerian from the acclaimed graphic novel, plans for filming to begin in January for release on July 21st 2017. [Variety]
