'The Big Short' Trailer Has Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carell Taking On Big Banks

Adam McKay has been itching to break free of the comedy world for a while, ever since he peppered The Other Guys with information on the white collar criminals destroying this country. But it's not until The Big Short that he's finally been able to jump in with both feet, and boy, did he amass a cast to do it with Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale. That, and due to it being an adaptation of the book by Moneyball author Michael Lewis, is why Paramount has hopes it will be an Oscar contender.

The latest trailer shows off the film's impressive star power, as well as a story centered on the financial crisis of 2007, caused by the "too big to fail" banking industry. Here's the official synopsis:

When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.

Also starring Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater, John Magaro, Rafe Spall, Jeremy Strong, Finn Wittrock, and Marisa Tomei, The Big Short opens in limited release on December 11th followed by a wide rollout December 23rd.
