Amy Adams Makes First Contact In Two Full Trailers For 'Arrival'
Last week's tension-filled teaser for Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi drama Arrival set the stage for what could be a dark horse film this awards season. When you think about movies like Gravity and The Martian and the impact those had, it's no wonder Paramount Pictures is throwing everything they have behind this one. Today sees the release of two full trailers that only serve to pump the anticipation up even further.
Based on the novella by Ted Chiang, the film stars Amy Adams as a linguistics expert called on by the government when aliens arrive here on Earth. She's part of a team that includes co-star Jeremy Renner, but don't expect him to be notching a bunch of arrows and firing them into alien invaders. Or at least it doesn't look like it. The footage we've seen isn't about big action, but seems to be about language and communication, looking a lot like 1997's Contact. That said, the tension is palpable because any miscommunication could lead to a global disaster.
Arrival hits theaters on November 11th.
