Tom Holland Says A 'Spider-Man' Sequel Is Already In The Works

This will come as a shock to absolutely no one, but Marvel is already talking about a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland, who made a very successful debut as the wallcrawler in Captain America: Civil War, revealed the news to WWD while on tour hyping The Lost City of Z...

“My next project, I can’t tell you about, but we’ve just finished ‘Spider-Man’ and we’re talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we’re going.”

From what I hear, the sequel will be completely a retelling of Spidey's origin; death of Uncle Ben, radioactive spiders, all that.  Just kidding, that ain't happenin', or at least we hope it isn't. Obviously it's way too early to know what's going down that far ahead since we don't truly know what to expect from 'Homecoming' other than it will take place during his sophomore year of high school and that he'll encounter a slew of villains that may include Michael Keaton as the Vulture. Iron Man will also be popping up, continuing the mentor role he had in 'Civil War'.

But will that association Spidey has with the Avengers roll into an appearance in the third and fourth Avengers movies? Holland tells Variety that he's not so sure it will...

"It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is."

With practically every MCU character taking part in the crossover battle against Thanos I find it hard to believe Spidey won't be part of it.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7th 2017.
