Judge Dredd Will Enforce Law And Order In A New TV Series
Unless it's Ryan Reynolds, actors have a hard time getting comic book movies made just by sheer enthusiasm. Ron Perlman couldn't do it with Hellboy 3, and unfortunately Karl Urban has been able to do with a sequel to Dredd. But for all of the fans out there who want more of the famous Judge, a solution may be on the way in the form of a new TV series.
IM Global and video game designer Rebellion are teaming up for Judge Dredd: Mega- City One. The series, which is really just in the earliest of stages right now, would follow a team of Judges, law enforcers granted the powers of judge, jury, and executioner, as they try to clean up a crime-ridden and overpopulated megalopolis in the 22nd century. Judge Dredd was created by comics scribe John Wagner, and portrayed on screen by Sylvester Stallone in 1995's Judge Dredd, which fans of the comic hated, and then by Urban in 2012's Dredd which has become a cult favorite.
So far there's no network and no talent on board other than exec-producers, who have ties to Battlestar Galactica and Dredd. Hopefully we'll learn more soon because I have a feeling there's a large group out there who will be eager to see this move forward quickly.
