First Look At The New Cast Of James Cameron's 'Avatar' Sequels
In case you missed it elsewhere, James Cameron has FINALLY begun shooting all of his Avatar sequels. It's started years past the original plan, but Cameron is fixing that by doing them all, basically back-to-back-to-back-to-back, four movies with a total budget of $1B. That may sound like a lot, and it is, but not when you break it down individually and account for the years' worth of technological upgrades Cameron invested before he started.
You'd be forgiven for not really believing any of this was true because the wait has been so long, but look! Evidence arrives in the first look at the young cast of The Avatar Sequels (the official title, by the way), who will mostly be playing motion-capture characters from the Na'Vi clan, just like the returning Zoe Saldana.
The image arrives from EW, who say the new cast (Britain Dalton, Filip Geljo, Jamie Flatters, Bailey Bass, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, and Duane Evans Jr.) will play the offspring of Sam Worthington's Sully and Saldana's Neytiri, along with other children from the ocean-dwelling clan called the Metkayina led Tonowari, played by Cliff Curtis. There is one exception and that is Jack Champion (the kid in the blue shirt and brown pants), who plays Javier "Spider" Socorro, a human child born on the Hell's Gate military complex from the first movie. A new hero or possibly a new villain? Hopefully we'll get a look at Worthingon, Saldana, Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang soon. Cameron's pretty good at keeping his social media followers in the loop.
So it's happening! Get excited!? If all goes according to plan, Avatar 2 will hit theaters on December 18th 2020, followed by new films in 2021, 2024, and 2025.
