Punch Drunk DVDs!
The Back-Up Plan
Call me crazy, but I think we might be hearing about this movie again at the end of the year.....as a Razzie nominee. Jennifer Lopez stars in this offensive, woman-hating hunk of goat crap about a woman who meets the perfect guy just after being artificially inseminated. Poor Alex O'Loughlin gets dragged into the mud, and frankly J-Lo should've stayed in film hibernation. Oh, but if you like it be sure to buy it here from us! :-D
Survival of the Dead
Legendary horror director, George Romero, returns for yet another gorefest revolving around the undead killers he practically invented over 40 years ago. This film leads directly from the events of Diary of the Dead, following a group of ex-military turned thugs who find themselves in the middle of a violent family feud on an idyllic island. If you're a fan of zombies and Romero's take on them in particular, you're probably gonna love it. For more on Survival of the Dead, check out our interview with Romero himself!
City Island
Remember that time in the mid-to-late 90s when indie cinema was really making it's presence felt? When every flick featured a quirky family, with unique problems, and a slanted view of what constitutes a normal life? That's exactly what City Island is, a surprisingly hilarious comedy starring Andy Garcia and Juliana Marguiles as the heads of a family who just can't bring themselves to be honest with eachother. Ever. This one's a buy.
Dorian Gray
What the hell is this doing on DVD? We posted about this flick way back in July of last year, and then it just sorta disappeared. Now I see why. Ben Barnes(The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), stars as the vain Dorian Gray, who trades his soul for a chance at eternal youth.
Abandoned
Sadly, nobody's ever going to remember this thriller for anything other than being the final film of it's star, Brittney Murphy, who passed away prior to it's release. She stars as a woman who desperately goes off in search of her husband(played by Dean Cain) who disappears suddenly after a routine medical exam.
The Square
Australian cinema seems to be all the rage lately. The Square is the top of topsy-turvy film noir that will have you scrambling for answers, which won't be easy to come by. A must have for fans of noir and crime flicks alike.
