Death Race was a surprise favorite of mine back in 2008. It was basically Twisted Metal brought to life, with a colorful cast of grungy characters, Jason Statham kicking ass, and Joan Allen chewing more scenery than she ever has in her career. Being a prequel, Death Race 2 doesn't have Statham or Allen involved but it still looks badass. Ving Rhames, Sean Bean, and Danny Trejo make for suitable replacements, anyway. It's straight-to-DVD, so keep an eye out for it in January. Check out the trailer below!
