Prometheus notes: New release date; Michael Fassbender in talks?
It was just the beginning when Ridley Scott's proposed prequel to Alien suddenly became an all new, original sci-fi flick called Prometheus. Somehow the change has made me even more interested in following what's going on with the production, and today there are two new tidbits of info, one minor and one potentially amazing.
First up is the news that 20th Century Fox has shuffled the release date for the film from March 9th, where it would be going head to head with Disney's John Carter of Mars(directed by Wall-E's Andrew Stanton), and placed it into the thick of the summer blockbuster season on June 8th 2012.
As if I needed even more reason to be psyched over it, now it looks like Michael Fassbender could be joining up as well. Variety reports that the actor, who is currently shooting X-men: First Class, is in talks to star. If he does indeed sign on, he'll be starring alongside Noomi Rapace(Sherlock Holmes 2), and likely Charlize Theron who has been in discussions for a few weeks now. Both Theron and Fassbender were attached to possibly be featured in Snow White and the Huntsman, but it appears neither will be involved in that film at all now.
