Trailer Time: Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco and some digital chimps
Well, at least these monkeys aren't puffing cigarettes and slingin' dope. These apes don't mess around, and poor James Franco and Freida Pinto are about to find out you don't play guinea pig with the creatures from the left side of the evolutionary scale. 20th Century Fox has cranked out a second trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reboot/prequel of the Planet of the Apes franchise.
This new trailer has a touch more action, but doesn't change my original thought that I'll likely be more invested in the parts of the film dealing with the experimentation and development of the apes' intellect. Even in these brief clips there's a sense of dread permeating through those scenes. Then again that could be the score. Whatever. The action looks pretty blah, even if the special effects are dazzling.
Rupert Wyatt(The Escapist) directed, and we're already hearing vibes of a possible sequel. Check out the new trailer below...
PLOT
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
