Trailer Time: Goon, starring Seann William Scott and Liev Schreiber

A couple of months ago we had an early leaked trailer for the hockey comedy, Goon, which stars Seann William Scott(American Pie) as a simple, thuggish bouncer who discovers he has a knack for kickin' ass. Those talents earn him a spot on a minor league hockey team as a goon, basically sent out onto the ice to drive someone's skull into the boards. Liev Schreiber(Salt) is his arch enemy, with a Sons of Anarchy mustache worth the price of admission alone. Alison Pill(Midnight in Paris) plays a slutty chick with a thing for hockey players. Michael Dowse(Take Me Home Tonight) directed, with a script by  Evan Goldberg and Jay Baruchel.

So it's got a ton of talent propping the film up, but it still has to overcome the hurdle of being a hockey film, which generally don't do a lot for me. Then again this trailer is loads better than the one we saw before, which we unfortunately had to take down for various reasons. It's better edited, shows off some of the potentially raunchy humor, and highlights the potentially hilarious rivalry between Scott and Schreiber pretty effectively.

Goon performed well at the Toronto International Film Festival, bought up by Magnet for a cool $2M. It'll hit theaters some time next year, but for now check out this new trailer....
