Oh, I get it. All this indie movie crap was a joke and Michael Bay was really directing Battleship in secret. Right? No? Then how do you explain this trailer which looks like Hasbro delivered a mandate to Peter Berg to steal not only the Transformers sound effects but everything else they could from every Michael Bay movie ever made? Hell, they even say it right there at the beginning, "From Hasbro the company that brought you TRANSFORMERS".
Despite their obvious intentions, the trailer isn't all that bad. The scene where Alexander Skarsgard witnesses a jaw rockin' explosion is pretty cool, and the effects look top notch. Apparently Rihanna is a bigger presence than I thought because she has just as many scenes as Taylor Kitsch. The dialogue sounds pretty freeze dried, but what the heck was anyone expecting? This is clearly a film to put your eardrums to the test, not your brain. We'll see how it all shakes out on May 18th 2012....
