The hopes and dreams of the world's children are at risk, and only the combined might of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman, Jack Frost, and the Tooth Fairy(not Dwayne Johnson!) can save them. The trailer for Dreamworks' Rise of the Guardians has been released, and it's as beautiful and wondrous as I'd hoped.
Based on William Joyce's novel series, The Guardians of Childhood, the animated feature stars Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, and Isla Fisher voicing the mythical icons as they attempt to stop the Boogeyman known as Pitch(voiced by Jude Law) from shadowing the world in darkness. The animation is stunning, but what is most impressive are the fantastical elements, like the Sandman using his powers to create an airplane in mid air, or a herd of dinosaurs made of sand. It's nice to see these characters taken seriously for once and not used as comedic fodder.
