Marvel and ABC developing an 'Avengers' live-action TV series?

It seems like a natural extension of Disney's acquisition of Marvel that we'd start to see more superheroes crossing into the studio's other outlets. Disney's animation branch is currently developing a Big Hero 6 film using the obscure Marvel heroes, and we'd heard talk of Guillermo Del Toro possibly spearheading a live-action Hulk TV series. With the success of The Avengers, the likelihood of seeing a Marvel show hitting the small screen has only increased, and now Deadline reports something could be in the works.

The site notes that talks are underway between ABC and Marvel about a drama series specifically set in the world of The Avengers. The connection to The Avengers is being described as "light", and likely wouldn't include any characters from the film. The project is in the very earliest of stages, merely a "kernel" of an idea, but one of the potential concepts being tossed around is a high-concept cop show.

If you've ever read Brian Michael Bendis' amazing comic book series, Alias, then I bet you've thought the same thing that it would make for a perfect TV series. It followed an ex-superhero turned private investigator who solves mysteries plaguing the personal lives of Marvel heroes. I can easily see something like that being developed, or maybe even a S.H.I.E.L.D series.

What do you all think? Would you want to see a Marvel Universe TV show?
