How can you not be excited over a gangster film set in the bootlegging days of Prohibition, and starring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, and Guy Pearce? For me, Lawless has been the object of many mixed emotions, because Matt Bondurant's amazing novel, The Wettest County in the World, is such a sterling piece of Americana that seeing it trimmed down for the screen seems almost criminal. But now having seen Lawless for myself, and without going too deep into a review of it, I can say that screenwriter Nick Cave does a bang up job getting to the core of Bondurant's story and leaving in all the meatiest parts for us to enjoy.
A ton of new photos for Lawless have been released, which feature all three Bondurant boys plays by Jason Clarke, Shia Labeouf, and Tom Hardy. Along with them we get a couple of shots of Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska, who pretty much play the only two women in all of Franklin County, VA worth chasing after.
