'Paranormal Activity 4' trailer shows the creepy side of Xbox Kinect

Could we be seeing the Paranormal Activity rocketing towards a final resolution? The franchise is just as lucrative as ever, with the last film the highest earner yet, but by now we've pretty much got the whole story figured out. And with Paranormal Activity 4's tagline of "All the Activity Has Led to This", it looks like the final pieces of the puzzle are falling into place.

The full trailer for the film has been released, and it's pretty much exactly what you've come to expect. I understand the need to do keep the look and set up of the movies similar so as not to alienate the hardcore horror fans, but its hard to get excited over seeing the same thing over and over. Taking place years after the events of Paranormal Activity 3, we see a teenager named Alice who is capturing all of the weird things that are happening around the house. Must be a demon, or something. A demon who loves Xbox Kinect, apparently, in what I'm guessing is the latest camera trick from directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. We also see Alice's dorky boyfriend, who will no doubt end up dead at some point, and the mysterious new neighbor kid named Robbie who I suspect is actually Hunter, who we saw the possessed Katie(Katie Featherston) steal from her sister back in Paranormal Activity 2.

There's actually a fairly well thought out story there if you step back and look at the franchise as a whole, and I credit Oren Peli for making everything make sense. But I do think we're reaching the point of redundancy, and eventually it'll start to be reflected at the box office. We'll see if Paranormal Activity 4 can retain the horror crown when it arrives on October 19th.....
