Sure Shots: Tom Hardy; Ed Zwick; Anne Hathaway

* Tom Hardy's still looking for that one headlining hit film after Lawless showed it certainly wasn't going to do the job. His best chance yet may be on the way as he's in talks to play famous mountain climber George Mallory in Everest, the next project by Doug Liman. Based on the book Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer, the story follows Mallory who is largely recognized as the first guy to reach Mt. Everest's peak in the 1920s. Sheldon Turner(Up in the Air) wrote the script, and filming will likely begin once Liman wraps up All You Need is Kill and Hardy finishes Mad Max: Fury Road. [Deadline]

* Oops! Ed Zwick has taken a tumble off The Great Wall. The director has left the film he was attached to from the very beginning . The story has Henry Cavill(Man of Steel) and Benjamin Walker(Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) as two 15th century British ex-pats who discover a huge mystery surrounding the Chinese landmark's construction. Why did Zwick leave? Who knows? Maybe he cared as little about it as everybody else seems to. There's zero buzz on this film right now. Production isn't being delayed, either, so there must a replacement somewhere.....right? Eh, who cares. [Deadline]

* We're still a couple of years away from Steven Spielberg's next big sci-fi film Robopocalypse hits theaters, and the director is trying to piece his cast together. Chris Hemsworth is still circling one of the lead roles, and now it looks like Anne Hathaway is in talks to join him. Thor and Catwoman on the same side? Check please! Drew Goddard(The Cabin in the Woods) is adapting Daniel H. Wilson's novel set in a future where robots are an accepted part of everyday life. That is until they turn violent when an artificial intelligence programs them to start killing. Robopocalypse is expected to open on April 25th 2014. [THR]
