Clive Owen to star in psychological drama 'Blue Angel'

After some lean years creatively following Children of Men and Inside Man, Clive Owen may finally be emerging from his funk. Sure, he won't be returning for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which is unfortunate, but he earned an Emmy-nomination for HBO's Hemingway & Gellhorn, and hopefully people will get a chance to see how good he was in James Marsh's Shadow Dancer. Now he'll star in a new psychological drama from Nip/Tuck showrunner, Richard Levine.

Owen has taken the lead role in Blue Angel, which Variety describes as a "psychological roller coaster ride between sex, seduction and emotional manipulation." Certainly it's territory Owen knows well, having starred in the excellent Closer back in 2004. Here he plays a college professor and languishing author who finds new inspiration with the arrival of a pierced, tattooed, and very gifted female gifted. Levine will write and direct, making this his debut feature.

No word on when this will shoot, but international rights were just picked up so it probably won't be long. Anything to help me forget Killer Elite.
