Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker Fight Crime and Racism in First 'Zulu' Trailer

There's a good chance that Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker will be getting his name called again soon for his stirring performance in Lee Daniels' The Butler, but it's only one of five movies he has coming out in 2013. The less said about The Last Stand is probably the better, and Black Nativity could make for a holiday surprise, but one film was regarded highly enough that it closed out the Cannes Film Festival. That would be the South Africa-set crime thriller Zulu, which has him partnering up with Orlando Bloom.

The first red band trailer for the Jerome Salle-directed Zulu has been released and it looks like potentially thrilling stuff, especially set against the backdrop of Cape Town where they are still struggling to get beyond the effects of apartheid. They play cops investigating a murder, and uncovering a deep conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels of government.

It's good to see Bloom do something that doesn't require him wearing elf ears, and Whitaker gets to call back his Idi Amin accent from The Last King of Scotland. There's likely a solid audience for this one if it ever gains U.S. distribution.
