Rachel Weisz Joins Colin Firth in James Marsh's Donald Crowhurst Biopic
Rachel Weisz wasn't seen at all on the big screen last year, but she's coming back with a vengeance alongside some top leading men. She'll be seen opposite Colin Farrell in the strange sci-fi romance, The Lobster, co-star with Michael Fassbender in The Light Between Oceans, and will join Michael Shannon in the latest film from Joshua Marston. She even has a role in Paolo Sorrentino's (The Great Beauty) The Early Years. And now she's set to join Colin Firth in James Marsh's new biopic on lost sailor, DonaldCrowhurst.
Marsh, who is coming off accolades for his Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything, will direct the untitled Crowhurst film based on a script by Contagion's Scott Z. Burns. Weisz will be taking the role previous set for Kate Winslet, that of Crowhurst's wife Clare. Crowhurst was an amateur sailor and wealthy, if eccentric, businessman who made a doomed attempt to win the World Yacht Race in 1968. After having a special boat designed just for him, Crowhurst attempted to cheat by lying about his coordinates, but soon his radio transmissions stopped and he was never seen again. [Deadline]
