It may have gotten a little bit lost in all the excitement surrounding Marvel's upcoming films, but Star Wars is now wholly front and center with Star Wars Celebration taking place. We've already seen a new teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a trailer for season two of Star Wars Rebels, footage of the video game Star Wars Battlefront, and now comes something I don't think anybody was truly expecting; a teaser for Gareth Edwards' spinoff, Rogue One.
Edwards took the stage and revealed a few details about the film, which has yet to officially begin shooting. Felicity Jones is confirmed to star as a rebel soldier, and the story is exactly as we'd heard. It will follow a plot to steal the Death Star plans, and we all know how that ultimately goes. The events will take place between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars, which technically puts it around the same time frame as Star Wars Rebels. Think we'll see any crossover there? He and producer Kathleen Kennedy also say the standalone movies will be officially referred to as "anthology" films.
So check out the brief teaser, which features Obi Wan Kenobi talking about how peace was first established in the galaxy with the help of the Jedi who are no longer around. What does that mean? It's up to regular people to do it now.
Star Wars: Rogue One opens December 16th 2016.
