Unlike the eponymous character she plays in Stephen Frears' biopic Florence Foster Jenkins, there's no doubting Meryl Streep's talent. The actress is in the UK right now shooting the film alongside her co-star, Hugh Grant, and the first image from the film shows them looking very much in love.
Streep plays Jenkins, the wealthy New York heiress an socialite who lacked any singing ability whatsoever, yet aggressively pursued her dream of being an opera singer. Her voice was hilariously awful to everyone around her, but Jenkins only cared about what she could hear in her own head. Grant plays her husband and manager, St Claire Bayfield, who sought to protect the woman he loved from the truth. His greatest challenge came when she decided to do a public show at Carnegie Hall in 1944.
Also starring Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda, Florence Foster Jenkins will likely arrive in 2016 as filming just began.
