Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez Hit the Waves in the First 'Point Break' Trailer
Nobody really asked for a remake of Kathryn Bigelow's Point Break, which starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze as the ultimate bro duo. The film has its merits, some would even call it a classic in a heist classic, but do we really need to see it redone with less compelling actors and a journeyman director? Whether we needed it or not, that's exactly what we've got and now we're seeing the results.
With Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey in the lead roles, this version is lacking in star power so they've decided to for increased horse power to lure in audiences. FBI agent Johnny Utah (Bracey) has infiltrated a team of bank robbers led by the charismatic Bodhi (Ramirez), but these guys are about more than just surfing, they're into every extreme sport under the sun.
While it's following the same path as the original this one looks too serious to be much fun. The interesting thing is that director Ericson Core shot 2001's The Fast and the Furious, and clearly there are some similarities.
Also starring Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, and Delroy Lindo, Point Break hits theaters on Christmas Day.
