Possible Info on Martin Freeman's 'Captain America 3' Role; Plus a Little on Adam Warlock

When Martin Freeman was recently added to the growing cast of Captain America: Civil War, the expectation wasn't that he'd be playing a superhero. Nothing against Freeman, who has played tough in Sherlock and brave in The Hobbit, but he doesn't fit the Marvel mold of what a superhero would look like. Now Latino Review claims to have info on who his character could be, and the options are very important to both the Avengers and the Wakandan king, Black Panther.

Latino Review's Dave Gonzalez says Freeman will play "some sort of interrogator and he will return to appear in Black Panther." Assuming Freeman is an established Marvel character, this leaves two clear possibilities: Henry Peter Gyrich, the government's volatile liaison to the Avengers; or Everett K. Ross, a State Dept. attache who was basically Black Panther's right-hand-man during the Christopher Priest comics run. It was during that run where Panther and Ross were frequently paired up as a buddy duo, that Panther really became an A-list Marvel hero.

Freeman is probably better suited to play Ross, but it really doesn't matter because Marvel is likely to tweak the character anyway.

The site also makes a claim that I made to my buddy while watching Avengers: Age of Ultron, that Paul Bettany's version of the Vision seemed more like Adam Warlock. First of all, he's got an Infinity gem in his head just like Adam Warlock does. Plus he had a very cold, aloof personality that puts him somewhat above the concerns of humans, just like Adam Warlock. Combine that with his emergence from a cocoon and, boom, you've got Adam Warlock. So maybe it's all just speculation now, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's who the Vision ends up becoming somewhere down the line, probably in Avengers: Infinity War.

Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th 2016. Avengers: Infinity War part 1 arrives on May 4th 2018. Black Panther hits theaters July 6th 2018.
