'Supergirl' Series Flies to CBS with Full Season Order
Pretty soon the small screen will be nothing but Marvel and DC Comics series, and now CBS has gone all-in on another. The network has officially ordered up a full season of Greg Berlanti's Supergirl series which will star Whiplash's Melissa Benoist as the other famous Kryptonian superhero.
Berlanti is the mastermind behind CW's Arrow, The Flash, and the upcoming Arrow/Flash spinoff, so he's carved himself a nice little niche on the broadcast TV landscape. That's good because his superhero work on the big screen consists of the disastrous Green Lantern film. Anyway, Supergirl picks up with Kara Zor-El at the age of 24 having lived on Earth in hiding most of her life. But after keeping her abilities secret for so long she decides to use them to fight for good, just like her cousin Superman.
Callista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, and ex-superfolks Dean Cain and Helen Slater will all have roles in the Supergirl series which will be part of the 2015-2016 season. [Variety]
