Ben Affleck to Direct 'The Batman' for 2018?
Of the many rumors regarding the future of Ben Affleck's Batman in the DC Comics movieverse, a persistent one has been about a potential solo movie. It seems inevitable that there would be one, but as of now Warner Bros. hasn't set anything officially in motion, preferring to focus on the character's appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and of course, Justice League. But last summer word surfaced that a solo Dark Knight film titled The Batman was coming in 2019, and now that story has just gained a bit more traction.
According to Latino Review, who broke the initial story, Ben Affleck will star in and also direct The Batman, which is now being set for November 2018. Writing the script would be Chris Terrio, who contributed to 'Batman v Superman' and wrote Affleck's Oscar-winning drama, Argo. Affleck has directed himself twice before in Argo and The Town, so this isn't completely out of the realm of possibility. He'll be coming off directing the long-delayed adaptation of Live By Night and who knows if he'll be ready to jump into another major gig behind the camera.
So we'll see how much weight this rumor carries now with the expectation that more will be learned next month at Comic-Con.
