'Green Lantern' Reboot May Focus on Multiple Green Lanterns; Chris Pine Again Rumored for Hal Jordan

With Comic-Con only a couple of weeks away, and no Marvel in attendance this year, it's no surprise that the majority of rumors lately have focused on Warner Bros.' DC Comics universe. Today brings what could be huge news on their planned Green Lantern reboot which is currently set for 2020. With the failure of 2011's Green Lantern film we always knew they'd be starting from scratch, but the latest rumor suggests they could be making a move to give us more than just one version of the hero, and a star may have already been cast.

The first part of this story comes from Collider, who say that the 2020 Green Lantern film may not settle for just one human GL. We may get the most widely-recognized version, Hal Jordan, as well as the popular John Stewart and...well, less than popular Guy Gardner. Essentially this would be a Green Lantern Corps franchise, but it will begin by following these two or three characters first.

Green Lantern is expected to be part of the two-part Justice League film, but chances are he'll turn up sometime before then. Maybe in the 2017 Wonder Woman movie? And here comes another part of this story as Latino Review says Chris Pine is the choice to play Hal Jordan. Now, Pine has been attached to the role of Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman film, but they say that was actually "Pine closing in on the role of Hal Jordan." Back in 2009 when the first Green Lantern film was in the casting phase it was Pine who was briefly the frontrunner for the role, so this would be coming full-circle if it's true.

And finally, with Warner Bros. basically owning Hall H at this year's Comic-Con, there's a chance we could see them trot the entire Justice League cast on stage in what would be a huge "Holy Sh*t" moment for the fans. And part of that would include bringing out Pine, and whoever will fill the roles of Stewart and Gardner. Apparently, Tyrese Gibson is still in the mix for Stewart while Common is out since he has a part in Suicide Squad.

Or this could just be a case of studio misdirection. Chances are we'll learn more at Comic-Con or soon after.
