Sometimes a film comes along that gets so many things wrong you can't help but wonder how it ever got a green light. This is one of those movies. Titled Some Kind of Beautiful, or known internationally as How to Make Love Like an Englishman....frankly, it doesn't matter because both titles suck, this comedy from the director of What Happens in Vegas (!!!) stars Pierce Brosnan as a philandering English professor who gets his 25-year-old girlfriend (Jessica Alba) pregnant, only to realize he's really in love with her older sister, played by Salma Hayek. This is all types of "ugh", and kind of makes you happy that a movie like Judd Apatow's Trainwreck exists to flip this stale model on its ear.
Some kind of beautiful? Some kind of corny is more like it. Get this thing outta here. I mean, seriously, aren't all of these people too talented for something like this? Well, maybe not. The November Man and Barely Lethal are things that exist in this world.
Some Kind of Beautiful hits DirecTV on July 23rd, meaning I'll feel compelled to order it. Urgh! It then hits theaters on August 21st.
