'Five Nights at Freddy's' lands 'Monster House' and 'Poltergeist' Director, Gil Kenan
Horror video games have become a popular source for Hollywood adaptations, with Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and even Dead Rising getting turned into feature films. And now you can add one more, a fairly recent game, as Warner Bros. has hired Gil Kenan to direct a live-action film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's.
Kenan previously directed the animated horror Monster House and the recent Poltergeist remake, so horrors have quickly become his stock 'n trade. Five Nights at Freddy's are a series of point and click games in which players take on the role of a security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, which has become possessed by homicidal animatronic characters. Imagine if Chuck E. Cheese came to life and tried to murder you, and you've got the gist of what these games are all about. The series has only been around for about a year, and yet the fourth game was released just last week.
Kenan will also pen the screenplay alongside Tyler Burton Smith, but no word on when filming will begin. [Deadline]
