Matthias Schoenaerts obsesses over Diane Kruger in the 'Maryland' Trailer

While Matthias Schoenaerts has already established himself with impressive performances in Bullhead and Rust & Bone, this year is proving to be his big coming out party. He's already been seen (or not seen may be more accurate) in thriller The Loft, period romance Far from the Madding Crowd opposite Carey Mulligan, and in the flowery drama A Little Chaos with Kate Winslet. And he still has roles in Suite Francais and The Danish Girl, two potential Oscar contenders, on the way. Those films pair him up with Michelle Williams and Alicia Vikander, by the way, so he's basically worked with every top actress in Hollywood at this point. He's still got one more film that has been flying under the radar, and it's the PTSD drama, Maryland, which debuted in-competition at Cannes.

Directed by Alice Winocour (Augustine) and co-starring Diane Kruger, Maryland centers on a French Special Forces soldier just returned from Afghanistan and suffering from PTSD. He's assigned with protecting the wife of a wealthy Lebanese businessman, but soon becomes fascinated with her, descending into a state of paranoia that may or may not be justified.

Maryland opens in France this September but has yet to gain a U.S. date. [via ThePlaylist]
