Fox Rumored to be Moving Ahead with 'Fantastic Four 2'
So much has been written about Fantastic Four at this point that it's long since become redundant. There are only so many ways to say the whole thing was a disaster that everyone involved screwed up royally. The big question mark left unresolved, largely because it's still a little early, is Fox's plan for a sequel, which has already been dated for June 9th 2017. While there has been talk of possibly shifting a Deadpool sequel to take its place, and some fans have began hoping the rights will revert back to Marvel (not gonna happen), a new story suggests Fox is going to do their best to make it work.
According to Hitfix, 20th Centuy Fox "definitely planning" on Fantastic Four 2, despite the unbelievably negative response. They may decide to move it off the June 2017 date to give whoever comes in as director some room to breathe, which would be a smart decision on their part. Chances are they'll keep the cast, which nobody really said anything bad about, and then chart a path that will put Trank's film clearly in the rear view. Regardless, there will be aspects of what he did that will remain, that much is unavoidable, and it's going to be interesting to see how far Fox goes in response. Do they suddenly make a lighter, more traditional superhero film, one that resembles the mid-2000s Fantastic Four movies?
Whatever Fox decides, hopefully they can build a better working relationship that will finally give the Fantastic Four a quality film for once.
