'Mad Max: Fury Road' Spinoff with Furiosa Still Possible; Three Deleted Scenes Revealed
George Miller may want a sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, revealing that it would be titled Mad Max: The Wasteland, but as of now there's nothing officially set in stone. Warner Bros. has yet to green light it, and star Charlize Theron has left some doubt over her return as Furiosa. There have been rumors in the past that her popular character would be the centerpiece of a sequel or spinoff, and now Deadline's Mike Fleming says those plans are still on the table.
"On those grounds, a 'Mad Max: Fury Road' sequel or a spinoff focusing on Charlize Theron’s Furiosa character (which is being discussed) is inevitable if George Miller wants to make one. I hope Tom Hardy is game to come back as the title character and that Warner Bros. (or some other studio, since Miller owns most of these rights) allows him to fully exercise his mad genius in another picture."
Basically, even if Warner Bros. decides, unbelievably, to move ahead with a sequel Miller could just probably just take it elsewhere. What's unclear is whether or not 'The Wasteland' is the Furiosa spinoff or the 'Fury Road' sequel. It's hard to imagine Miller moving ahead without Theron as her character emerged as arguably the real star of the show.
The Mad Max: Fury Road Blu-Ray released on September 1st, and below you can check out three deleted scenes that were probably best left out.
