Hugh Jackman wants fans to know his final time as Wolverine will be filled with rage. The actor has been calling asking for input on The Wolverine 3, in order to give everyone what they want to see out of his last performance as the mutant X-Man. While appearing on the Sydney Confidential Podcast, Jackman teased a possible appearance by Wolverine's arch-nemesis and perhaps even a little bit of berserker rage.
"There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back.....I must admit I was quite heartened by a number of people saying please don’t make it the last, but look, I’m really excited about this last one. And if you’re a comic book fan, the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot. If you know Wolverine, you’ll understand."
Victor Creed is the real name of Wolverine's most savage foe, Sabretooth, who has been tormenting him since the very beginning. The character has been seen twice already as part of the X-Men movie franchise; once played by Tyler Mane in the first film, the second by Liev Schreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
As for the berserker rage, it's only been glimpsed sparingly in the movies. Occasionally Wolverine will lapse into a feral, uncontrollable state of action in which all sense of right and wrong goes out the window and he kills anything in his path. It usually occurs at times of intense pain or desperation, and has pulled him out of a number of situations he might not have walked away from.
We'll see if any of this happens, but if this really is the last Wolverine movie then Sabretooth pretty much has to be there. As of now the untitled film is scheduled to open on March 3rd 2017.
