The Guns are Out in the Trailer for Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

Remember when it looked like Quentin Tarantino wouldn't give us The Hateful Eight? A version of the script had been leaked and Tarantino, who takes the finer points of his screenplays incredibly serious, decided to scrap the Western, his follow-up Django Unchained.  Ultimately, cooler heads prevailed, and Tarantino has decided this will be more than just another action movie. The Hateful Eight is meant to be a pure cinematic experience captured in full 70mm glory. And now after an impressive debut of footage at Comic-Con last month, the first trailer puts all of Tarantino's gun-toting villains on display.

Starring Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, and Walton Goggins as the titular group of ornery cusses in a tense stand-off while stuck inside during a raging snowstorm. If 'Django' was Tarantino's revisionist take on the genre, The Hateful Eight is him jumping into a more traditional style, and by the looks of it he's succeeded. It certainly won't hurt to have the legendary Ennio Morricone providing the film's score.

The Hateful Eight opens in 70mm on Christmas Day, before going national on January 8th.
