Christina Hendricks, Emily Watson, and Abbie Cornish are 'The Angel Makers'


With TIFF taking place right now there will a number of films hitting the sales floor, and most will already have top stars attached to help attract buyers. One that could draw a lot of attention is WWI film, The Angel Makers, which has an impressive trio of actresses on board.

The romantic drama will be headlined by Christina Hendricks, Oscar-nominee Emily Watson, and Abbie Cornish, with Jon Amiel directing. Max Riemelt and David Kross co-star in the film, based on true events, which "centers on the women of England’s Yorkshire Moors, who were left to maintain the farms when their men headed off to fight in France in 1917. When the women enlist German POWs from a nearby internment camp to do labor on their land, affairs soon begin to bloom." Hendricks will play the leader of the women, a skilled midwife and witch doctor. 

Filming on The Angel Makers begins in January. [THR]
