Watch Oscars 2016 In Memoriam Segment, Plus Lady Gaga's Empowering Musical Performance
In-between all of Chris Rock's polarizing jokes about race, the Academy Awards had time for a few poignant moments. The In Memoriam segment is always good for a few sniffles, and it was especially tough this year with Dave Grohl's rendition of "Blackbird" reminding us of the recent passing of Alan Rickman, David Bowie, and Leonard Nimoy. Unfortunately, they didn't include Abe Vigoda of The Godfather and Barney Miller fame. Perhaps because they were confused by all of the rampant death hoaxes over the years?
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga brought tears to the crowd with her powerful performance of "Til It Happens To You", her Oscar-nominated song for the documentary, The Hunting Ground. While the song didn't win, the most striking image of the night may be Gaga surrounded by dozens of victims of sexual abuse, all holding out their forearms revealing words such as "It's Not Your Fault" and "Unbreakable".
