Another 'Jason Bourne' Film Likely, Not So Much For 'The Bourne Legacy' Sequel
Maybe Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass were gone too long but what we thought was an anticipated return for Jason Bourne landed with a shrug. At least it did domestically where $162M is one of the franchise's lowest. But as so often happens, the film killed it overseas and wound up with $415M when all was said and done. See, this is why Damon gets to star in stuff like The Great Wall, too. Anyway, those numbers seem to be enough to convince producer Frank Marshall that a sixth movie should happen, assuming Damon and Greengrass can be corralled for another. He tells Yahoo Movies UK...
“I have spoken to them both. Obviously they’re very pleased with how the movie turned out. It’s really about the story, just like on this one, everyone said ‘if you come to us with a good story, we’ll think about it.’ So right now, we’re taking a pause and then we’re going to dive back in and try to find a story. We did leave it wide open at the end of the movie to continue on in Bourne’s world so we’ll see what we can come up with.”
That's great and all, but what does it mean for Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross, who led the forgettable spinoff The Bourne Legacy?
“That story is still out there as well but it’s not… we’re not talking about it."
Oh...okay. So that doesn't seem to be happening. Maybe a crossover then? Anyway, Jason Bourne hits DVD/Blu-Ray on December 6th, in case you haven't caught up with the amnesiac agent's latest adventure.
