'Mission: Impossible 6', 'Downsizing' And More Set Release Dates

While the rest of us were sweating out the elections, Paramount kept busy by dropping a bunch of release dates. First up, Alexander Payne's sci-fi comedy Downsizing will open on December 22nd 2017, which is a pretty big deal. The holiday season is generally reserved for major blockbusters or awards season movies, so they clearly see a great deal of potential. The film stars Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz, Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Sudeikis in the story set in a future where humans can shrink themselves down to avoid over-consumption of natural resources. Damon plays a man who undergoes the procedure only to run into significant problems.

Tom Cruise will do something death-defying in Mission: Impossible 6 on July 27th 2018. His buddy and Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie will also return, along with co-star Rebecca Ferguson. That date comes with some heavy competition as Warner Bros. has an untitled DC Films movie on the same weekend. Hmmmm....

The studio also has a pair of untitled movies of its own. Paramount has set an untitled IMAX horror movie on April 28th 2017, where it will go up against Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in The Circle. Finally, November 2nd 2018 is when an untitled event movie will drop, going up against Disney's live-action Mulan remake.
