Honest Trailer For 'Suicide Squad' Dishonors The "Worst Heroes Ever"
It was inevitable that Screen Junkies would get around to Suicide Squad, and they haven't let us down. The film arrived with a ton of hope from fans that it would be a rebound after that 'Batman v Superman' fiasco. But if they or Warner Bros. thought it would get the DC Extended Universe on track, well everybody was wrong.
While I liked a good chunk of the movie myself, it's hard to argue that there are a ton of problems and a lot of it has to do with the supposed "worst heroes ever". “They’re high on attitude but dangerously low on relevant skills,” says the voice-over guy and he's right. Why were these particular villains picked for a job of world-saving importance? The truncated production schedule led to a shoddy, pieced-together script that gave us "a hula-hooping witch" for a villain a version of The Joker that might as well not have been in the movie.
These are all curious choices indeed, although the performances by Will Smith, Jai Courtney, and Margot Robbie still rocked. And man, those cast credits are hilarious, though. "Heath Lesser" is downright priceless. Jared Leto wasn't that bad, you guys.
